Customer reference for building, converting services as told to pickapro by John Devaney from Donabate Co Dublin on 26-Feb-2007
When was the work done?
It started approximately the middle of last May and finished in September 2006.
What was involved?
It was an extension to the rear of the house - an extension to the kitchen basically. It was a pretty big job. There was a lot of extra work inside, knocking through walls and opening the place up.
How did you choose Eddie Rainsford?
We got Eddie's number from a kitchen supplier. We chose Eddie mainly because he could get the job done quicker. Eddie could get into it more or less within a couple of months and we wanted to get it done during the summer.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Eddie Rainsford?
We did. We didn't use an architect because we didn't need one for planning purposes and we had a good idea of what we wanted. We explained it to Eddie and he made a few modifications and added a couple of ideas. We went with what he suggested and it worked out brilliantly.
Did Eddie introduce new ideas?
Yes, particularly with the style of roof and the materials being used. He was able to advise us, and advise us very well I thought, so yes everything went very smoothly.
How did the project run?
They started the day they said they would start and they finished more or less the week they said they would finish.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Eddie Rainsford?
From our point of view, the way the business is operated. Eddie Rainsford does all the contact work and all the administration and he keeps in constant contact with you. So, he is always on the phone to you, making sure that you are happy. That was the most beneficial thing from our point of view, apart from the fact, the actual work itself was spot on. The communication was very good.
What's your favourite part now?
The job over all is just lovely and we often sit in the extension now and look around and admire it. Even though we are well settled back in to it now we still look around and think what a great job it is.
Would you recommend Eddie Rainsford to others?
We already have. We have recommended them to a number of people and I think they have started a number of jobs on those recommendations.
Any tips for other people?
Get a detailed breakdown of the costing and just to keep an eye on that. Eddie was great from that point of view - he keeps in contact with you all the time.
